This map shows the area that is currently available to characters.
FOUNTAIN SQUARE
All new arrivals and revived characters appear in the fountain square, waking up on the paving stones. It's not the geographical center of the town, but it's close to the main gates and the castle. The water in the fountain is normally fresh and cool and sparkling, but in the fog world it's a trickle of stale water and in the nightmare world it is a black sludge. Various shops and amenities are available around the central square, including:
PUBLIC LIBRARY
Located just off of Fountain Square, the Rhodos Public Library features lots of books in modern Greek, a generous amount of books in English, and a smattering of books in other languages.
THE GRAND MASTER'S PALACE
The castle is extremely visible from many locations around the city. The enormous stone structure has all the size and opulence of a palace, but the tall, thick walls make clear that this pleasure palace was very much designed for defensibility. It's a very expensive fortress at the heart of the larger fortifications of the medieval town. Inside, Grecian-style statues occupy large niches in the broad courtyard, facing toward the castle entry. Their features have been worn down by centuries of weather until they are mostly or entirely faceless, and many of them are missing their heads entirely. All the doors inside the castle are shut and locked tight, with only a few exceptions:
THE LIBRARY
Inside the library you feel a sense of calm. It feels safe, and a little more real despite the anachronism of modern stuffed couches amidst medieval stones and renaissance literature. A variety of books line the walls, dating from 1315-1840. Unlike the variety of modern Greek and English books in the public library off the Fountain Square, the castle library features titles in Turkish, Latin, Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, Italian, German, Persian, and Arabic. On one of the shelves, you find a handful of books in your native language. They're not books that you owned personally, but they're certainly books from your own world.
THE ARMORY
The castle armory is well-stocked with any weapon a medieval garrison could hope for. Unfortunately for you, the weapons haven't been sharpened since usage by the medieval garrison, and some of them are badly rusted. Most of the wooden hafts have been replaced for better display as museum pieces, but those are the only parts of these weapons that have been replaced. Most of them will need a bit of loving care before they'll be functional, and you'll be taking your life in your own hands if you try to use any of the guns. Not that it's immediately possible to do so: there are bullets available for the 16th-century guns, but there is no gunpowder to be found.
THE STATUE GALLERY
Within the statue gallery are carven representations of each one of the Tourists. Many of the statues are in disrepair, missing limbs or even parts of faces, but there is one statue in the gallery that is undeniably a depiction of you. Statues are carved in the Hellenistic style, and depicted either naked or with barely-there drapes of fabric. Each statue's expression depicts characters in states of madness, horror, or ecstasy. Ecstasy in particular may be reverent or erotic. Or both.
MOAT
A dry moat surrounds the town, though at this time only the area immediately surrounding the theater is available. The far wall of the moat is climbable but dangerous with loose stones, and the fog is thick at the top of each wall.
AMPHITHEATER
A small gate in one of the outer walls with steps leading down into the outer moat leads to an open air theater. The fog surrounding the city walls has drawn back for just this one little area, revealing an open air theater butting up against the castle wall. A path leads away into the fog east and west.
